Change in circulation coins from The Netherlands

Post by BadVariemai »

A few hours ago Queen of The Netherlands would abdicate on April 2013 and her son will be the New King.
So the euro coins of the country will change.
We have to see now if the change will become this year or next year.
Most Probably next year... but we will see.

Yes . . interesting news . . If the new coins are designed in a similar way to the existing Netherlands coins but with the new King they may end up looking similar to the Luxenbourg coins. Difference is the Dutch coins have the head facing left and the Luxembourg coins face to the right.

Hi Mike, you are quite right that the new coins may end up looking similar to the Luxembourg ones. Moreover, it is a tradition that the new king or queen faces the opposite site of his/her predecessor. For the last 200 years this has been the case, so it is very likely that the head of King Willem-Alexander will be facing right (just as Grand-Duc Henri).
