Shipment from AASFN San Marino

Hi swappers,

This week i recieved a shipment from the AASFN from San Marino with the 5 and 10 euro coins 2012.
To my surprice i had to pay 29,30 euro to the postman.
Normaly there are no extra costs because payment (79,50 euro including shippingcosts) is done by creditcard.
I read the invoice about the 29,30 euro, it was for Customs Declaration taxes.
Because San Marino is no member of the European Union you have to pay these taxes.
I have checked and San Marino is indeed no official member of the EU.
In the last 10 years i never had to pay any extra costs, till now.
If this is going to be the "normal" procedure in the future i am thinking of stopping buying from AASFN because it will be cheaper buying the coins from a dealer.

Does anybody has the same experience with these taxes???

Yes...in last few years in Slovenia we also have to pay tax for San Marino coins. I think if value is more then 23€. But I don't pay Customs Declaration taxes - I pay VAT (value added tax) + customs handling fee. It is quite frustrating because I pay VAT on total value (value of coin + shipment expenses)!!
At least for BU set it is cheaper for me if I by it from coin dealer... Luckily I don't collect Silver coins from San Marino...
Funny thing is that sometimes customs obviously overlook shipment...and don't check it.
On the other hand...sometimes shipment with 2€ CC coin is checked, but I don't pay VAT as value of shipment is lower then 23€...
